Volunteer RequirementsChristians who are in places of responsibility in the church are required to be examples in faith, conduct, and business affairs. To maintain a high standard for volunteers is one of the best ways to present Christ to the people of our community. Therefore, to serve within the children’s department of South Bay Church, all potential volunteers must meet the following policies and guidelines: 1. All those interested in volunteering must fully complete a The South Bay Kids Volunteer Application. 2. Candidates must meet all qualifications for children’s and youth workers as listed in the Volunteer Application. 3. A follow-up report will be completed with all references, including a criminal history investigation. 4. The SBK Director will speak with applicant and discuss the ministry and all of our various volunteer opportunities. 5. After speaking with the Director, volunteers will be assigned to a position. 6. All applications, follow-up reports and interview records must then be approved by The SBK Director and copies will be kept in a locked file in the Director’s office. 7. All volunteers, regardless of who they are and how long they have attended South Bay Church, must fill out a Volunteer Application and it must be reviewed and approved by the SBK Director. The following guidelines are required of any person who volunteers in SBK. 1. Be a member of South Bay Church or committed to begin the membership process. 2. Be able to make a one-year commitment. 3. Complete a South Bay Kids Volunteer Application. 4. Be faithful to your assigned position. 5. Live a life modeled after Christ. 6. Attend all volunteer meetings and workshops. 7. Be faithful to regular church services (at least one adult service per week when 2 are offered; or one every other week when 1 is offered). 8. Give at least three days notice if you know you will be absent. 9. Be ready to receive children fifteen (15) minutes before starting time. 10. Be neat in your appearance. 11. Complete training with an experienced SBK Team Member. 12. Your home life must be in order. 13. Give thirty (30) days notice when resigning your position. 14. Always wear your SBK ID Lanyard.
