"Men helping other men move closer to Christ"
A Call to Arms from Elder Herb Joiner
I have been reading Wild at Heart, by: John Eldredge and God has been laying on my heart to step up and take charge as I move further into Leadership of the Church.I started taking notes and it moved more into a short book and reflects how God has used circumstances throughout history to be close to us and desire to have a special relationship with us, but it requires us to make a choice.Do we, willingly follow him, wherever he leads, like a child or reluctantly keep him at arms length, just to be on the safe side.He is, I believe, about to take us on a journey that isn't for the faint at heart and we need to be ready when he calls!I am in total agreement, that God needs us to be warriors and not just sit passively by and wait to see what is going to happen. God does have what it takes to overthrow the enemy, but as you suggested, he needs warriors, armor bearers and adventurous risk takers. By this I mean we have to step outside the box and let God be God.All through history, God allows tremendous odds to mount up before he leads a few chosen few into battle to slay the enemy, so he receives all the glory. My prayer for myself is for God to give me the strength and will to follow him completely. Equip me with his word as my armor, to be ready for battle. To teach me what I need to know and prepare my heart for the fight ahead.I pray for wisdom, knowledge and clear, sharp eyes to see the wolf in sheep's clothing that is lurking about.I long for a closer relationship with God and be willing to accept all of who he is as he accepts me for who I am. He is loving, kind, merciful, full of grace, a forgiving father, friend and companion. But he is also an angry, jealous, vengeful Lion of Judah, who demands us to fear him.Our enemy fears him and they hope that we don't know that, because they still want to have the upper hand. We do need to remember that he is watching our backs and will not just hand us a victory, but wants us to fight for for the victory, through him. I will be there Sunday for prayer, as we draw closer to the need for all the men of South Bay to step up and take charge of what God has for our Church body. We can sit back and allow it to fail or fight for The Lord to keep it safe from harm!
